**Alec Bohm (Left Hand Discomfort)**
Status: Out of the lineup
Bohm exited the August 29th game against the Braves due to “left hand discomfort,” following a first-inning at-bat where he fouled off a pitch from Charlie Morton. Although Phillies manager Rob Thomson initially feared a hamate injury, the X-rays showed no structural damage. “We got a break,” Thomson remarked. Despite being out of the lineup for four consecutive games, Bohm isn’t expected to be placed on the 10-day IL. However, it seems unlikely he’ll be available for Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays. The Phillies have opted to play a man down while Bohm recovers, rather than placing him on the IL, which would sideline him for a longer period. (Updated by Tim Kelly on Sept. 3)
Spencer Turnbull(Right Lat Strain)**
Status: 60-day injured list
Turnbull has progressed to throwing up to 120 feet this week. Thomson mentioned on August 28 that if Turnbull returns this season, it will likely be as a reliever, due to the limited time left in the season to rebuild his stamina for starting. Turnbull is scheduled for a bullpen session this week, but the Phillies remain uncertain about his return this season. (Updated by Tim Kelly on Sept. 1)
**Andrew Painter (Tommy John Surgery)**
Status: Minor league 60-day injured list
The Phillies’ top minor league prospect, Andrew Painter, underwent Tommy John surgery on July 25, 2023. Painter was scheduled for an up-down session on September 1, with Thomson noting that he’s progressing well. The outcome of this session will determine the next steps in his recovery.
