The New York Giants (0-0) are set to face off against the Minnesota Vikings (0-0) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this Sunday afternoon.
This matchup offers us at Giants Wire another chance to hypothetically pluck talent from the Vikings’ roster to bolster Big Blue for the second time this year.
Interestingly, for the first time in years, we’re not immediately eyeing an offensive lineman. It’s a strange feeling but a clear nod to the improvements made by general manager Joe Schoen.
With the O-line settled, the first thought was to target a cornerback, but with Minnesota’s top corner, Stephon Gilmore, available earlier and the Giants passing on him, that option seems less enticing. Plus, Shaquill Griffin doesn’t quite fit the bill.
Tight end T.J. Hockenson crossed our minds, but his recovery from a torn ACL in December means he might not be available until mid-season.
This leaves us with limited choices, but the clear standout is to aim for a true game-changer. Enter superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
No disrespect to the ever-reliable Darius Slayton, but adding Jefferson could arguably create the league’s top WR1-WR2 duo alongside rookie Malik Nabers. Pair that with Jalin Hyatt and Wan’Dale Robinson, and the Giants would have an explosively dynamic receiving corps, giving quarterback Daniel Jones a near-perfect scenario, especially with Jefferson or Nabers likely drawing one-on-one coverage.
“You better know where he’s lined up. He can hurt you in all three areas of the field. Catch and run, intermediate, vertical, double moves,” Giants head coach Brian Daboll said of Jefferson on Tuesday.
So, Giants fans, what do you think? Would you opt for Justin Jefferson, or is there another Viking you’d rather steal?
