With the 2024 NFL regular season just days away, there’s plenty of optimism surrounding the Chicago Bears. They’ll kick off their new era on Sunday, September 8th, with phenom Caleb Williams taking the helm against the Tennessee Titans. Williams has already impressed in camp, earning the distinction of being named a captain as a rookie.

The Bears bolstered their roster throughout the summer, sparking speculation that they could make a postseason run in 2024. While the future looks promising for Chicago, it’s crucial that the team takes every measure to protect their young quarterback. Additionally, with D’Andre Swift leading the charge in the backfield, the Bears are expected to lean heavily on their running game.

Bleacher Report has suggested that the Bears should consider signing two-time Super Bowl champion Cameron Fleming in free agency soon.

“Sign Now: OT Cameron Fleming,” Bleacher Report advised. “With Larry Borom starting the year on injured reserve, the Bears are young and thin at offensive tackle. Third-round pick Kiran Amegadjie is the only true tackle backup on the active roster, so investing in a veteran at the position would be a smart move.”

“Fleming is a solid choice, as he has experience playing both left and right tackle off the bench. This way, if Braxton Jones or Darnell Wright goes down, the offense won’t have to rely on the rookie from Yale or move Teven Jenkins to protect Williams.”

Ensuring Williams’ protection is paramount, and signing a seasoned player like Fleming on a budget-friendly deal could be a wise decision for the Bears.
