The Kentucky Wildcats are tirelessly preparing for Mark Pope’s inaugural season as head coach. Pope and his staff have been working diligently to bolster their recruitment efforts since arriving in Lexington. They’ve been in contact with 2026 power forward Miikka Muurinen, who initially planned a visit for September 13th.
However, Muurinen has since canceled that visit but intends to reschedule it, according to KSR’s Jacob Polacheck. The cancellation was largely due to Kentucky hosting 5-star forward Caleb Wilson that same weekend, making it impractical to have two high-profile recruits visit simultaneously.
Muurinen, ranked as the No. 1 power forward and 10th overall recruit in his class by On3, is still set to visit schools like Utah and Duke this month. Additionally, Kentucky plans to scout him this week at AZ Compass Prep’s pro day.
It’s clear that Muurinen remains a top priority for Kentucky.
