The Yankees are still aiming for a World Series appearance this year, even though they didn’t make many significant moves at the trade deadline. The addition of Jazz Chisholm has quickly made a difference in several areas, along with the contribution of bullpen arm Mark Leiter Jr.
General manager Brian Cashman mentioned that several players coming back from the injured list would effectively serve as new acquisitions, including veteran slugger Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton has recently returned from a hamstring injury that had kept him out for over a month.
Before his injury, the 34-year-old was putting up impressive comeback stats, batting .241/.297/.475. His on-base percentage had climbed above 30% for the first time in two years, but it has since dropped below that mark after being out of live action for several weeks.
