The Braves sent Hernández back to Triple-A Gwinnett after Sunday’s game against the Pirates. This was not a demotion for the right-handed reliever, who has not allowed an earned run in 9 2/3 innings (nine appearances) this year. Instead, it created a roster spot for left-hander A.J. Minter, who made his final expected Minor League rehab appearance for Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

Elder served as the Braves’ 27th man in Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals. The right-hander started Game 2 and allowed two runs on four hits over six innings in Atlanta’s 4-1 loss. Elder is 1-3 with a 5.76 ERA in six Major League starts this season.

Harris has been throwing and hitting but has not started running yet. He strained his left hamstring during a June 14 game against the Rays. An MRI showed a Grade 2 strain. The Braves have not set a timetable for his return, but it seems clear the center fielder will be out until after the All-Star break. (Last updated: June 28)

Kerr reported elbow issues upon arriving at Triple-A Gwinnett, and manager Brian Snitker anticipates he will need Tommy John surgery. Kerr was optioned to Gwinnett on June 15 but did not pitch there. He was moved to the 15-day IL retroactive to June 16, and his option to Gwinnett was voided. Kerr appeared in 10 games, including two starts, for the Braves this season, posting a 1-2 record with a 5.64 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings. (Last updated: June 24)

Waldrep was informed he was being sent down after his June 16 start against the Rays, but he was placed on the injured list after reporting right elbow discomfort to the team’s trainers. The 22-year-old pitcher does not have any structural damage and could resume throwing next week. (Last updated: June 21)

Smith-Shawver received bad news on May 24 when an MRI showed a Grade 2 left oblique strain. He felt discomfort during the third inning of Atlanta’s May 23 game against the Cubs but did not inform the medical staff until after he was removed following 4 1/3 scoreless innings. There was no indication of injury when he was removed. Smith-Shawver, the Braves’ No. 1 prospect, is 21 years old. (Last updated: May 24)

Matzek has been throwing from 90 feet and is encouraged by how his arm feels, but it is too early to predict when he might return to pitching. He posted a 9.90 ERA with concerning hard-hit metrics over 11 appearances this season. After resting his arm for six weeks, he was recently cleared to begin throwing again. (Last updated: June 28)

Anderson will throw another inning in a Florida Complex League (FCL) game and might begin a Minor League rehab assignment by early July. Manager Brian Snitker reported encouraging progress from Anderson, whose fastball was clocked between 93-95 mph in an FCL game on June 18. Anderson has been sidelined since undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2023. (Last updated: June 21)
