Louisville is interested in engaging with Milwaukee’s shooting guard.

University of Louisville basketball coach Pat Kelsey and his staff are actively involved with several top prospects in the Class of 2025. Last week, they observed many of these targets in Orlando, Florida, at the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp.

On Friday night, Tyrone Burrus from Warren Central in Indianapolis announced his commitment to Louisville. This decision came after a late shift in favor of Louisville, who managed to secure his commitment despite Indiana previously being in the lead. The recruitment effort was spearheaded by head coach Jeff Brohm and co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach Mark Hagen.

“I think Coach Brohm and Coach Hagen will develop me to get me ready for the next level,” Burrus said. “Other than the guys making me feel like family, Louisville is building a winning culture down there. It definitely is something I want to be a part of.”

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, Burrus is now the highest-ranked member of Louisville’s 12-player class. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 6 rising senior recruit in Indiana and holds a rating of 89. Burrus also took official visits to Indiana and Illinois, and had offers from Kansas, Michigan State, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, West Virginia, and others.

“I liked the place a lot and the coaches were great,” Burrus told Cardinal Authority after his official visit. “They are really on it football-wise. They know what to do and how to do it. They are just a great staff overall. I liked everything about the weekend.”

He mentioned that the staff had been recruiting him since their tenure at Purdue.

In his junior season, Burrus recorded 34 tackles (15 for loss), 5.5 sacks, 19 quarterback hurries, and three pass breakups, earning All-State honors from the Indiana Football Coaches Association. He also made All-County as a sophomore and junior. Additionally, Burrus participates in track and field, with notable performances including a 7.48 in the 60-meter, 11.99 in the 100-meter, 24.76 in the 200-meter, 57.62 in the 400-meter, and a 5-0 effort in the high jump.

Burrus joins a Louisville class that includes two other defensive linemen: Tennessee-native Eric Hazzard and in-state recruit Dillon Smith. He is the first commit from Indiana in this class, a state where the Cardinals typically have success recruiting, currently boasting eight players on their roster from Indiana.
