Robinson arrives at Auburn with one year of eligibility.

Auburn, lacking depth at the defensive back positions, has added former Alabama and Colorado transfer Jahquez Robinson to bolster the roster. Robinson joins Auburn as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left.

He previously played under Auburn’s new defensive backs coach Charles Kelly.

Robinson, part of the Class of 2020, initially signed with Alabama and was ranked the No. 285 player overall, No. 21 cornerback, and No. 49 player from Florida. Coming from Sandalwood (Fla.), Robinson also considered Oklahoma and South Carolina during his recruitment.

During his time at Alabama from 2020 to 2022, Robinson redshirted in 2020 and appeared in seven games over the next two years, recording two tackles, one tackle for loss, and a sack against Vanderbilt. In 2023, Robinson played at Colorado, participating in seven games and starting two, accumulating nine tackles and one interception. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds.

Robinson entered the transfer portal in January before spring practices and has now committed to the Tigers. He brings experience at safety, nickel, and cornerback, positions where Auburn has talent but needed depth, especially after Colton Hood transferred to Colorado during the spring transfer window.

After the spring portal window, Auburn remained around the 80 scholarship mark, allowing head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff room to elevate a preferred walk-on or, as in Robinson’s case, add a late transfer.

Robinson is the 15th transfer addition for Auburn this cycle, spanning both the winter and spring portal windows. In the secondary, Auburn also added former Texas safety Jerrin Thompson and former Alabama cornerback Antonio Kite before spring practice.
