Aston Villa have been attempting to offload Douglas Luiz to comply with the Premier League’s spending regulations.
The 26-year-old has already reached personal terms with Juventus, but an agreement between the clubs is still pending.
Both parties have been discussing a cash-plus-player deal involving Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea.
Initially, Juve suggested including Weston McKennie and Iling-Junior in the deal, but McKennie’s salary demands led to his exclusion.
According to the latest update from Calciomercato.com, Barrenechea has agreed to a move to the West Midlands, which is promising news for Villa.
The Argentine, who joined Juventus in early 2020, has made five senior appearances for the club.
Last season, he was loaned to Frosinone, where he impressed despite the club’s relegation to Serie B, making 39 appearances across all competitions, including 36 in Serie A.
Aston Villa had an outstanding 2023-24 season under Unai Emery, securing a Champions League spot by finishing fourth in the Premier League.
However, despite the European revenue, their transfer budget is reportedly tight, necessitating sales before making new signings this summer.
The Lions are ready to part with Douglas Luiz and Jhon Duran, who is heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.
