When Koron Davis decided to transfer to the UL Ragin’ Cajuns, it was a decision he made after careful consideration. His previous move from Los Angeles Southwest Community College to Louisville had been impulsive, driven by proximity to home rather than the best fit for his career.

“I felt like I rushed the process coming out of junior college,” explained Davis, who stands at 6-foot-6. “I chose one of my first options without fully exploring all my opportunities.”

Originally from Gary, Indiana, Davis didn’t visit Louisville before committing and encountered issues with Coach Kenny Payne, who was later dismissed. Despite impressive stats from his time at Los Angeles Southwest, where he averaged 23.8 points and demonstrated strong shooting percentages, Davis never played a regular-season game for Louisville due to his strained relationship with Payne.

After conflicting reports about his departure surfaced, Davis clarified on social media that he didn’t ask to transfer and had enjoyed his time with the Cardinals. Eventually, he decided to move on and found a more welcoming environment at UL Lafayette, where he sensed an opportunity to make an immediate impact.

“When I visited here, I felt I could contribute right away,” Davis remarked. “It didn’t seem like a rebuilding situation, unlike where I came from.”

Davis is determined to bring leadership to UL Lafayette, emphasizing that nothing will be handed to him and he’s prepared to earn his place on the team. Despite not playing competitively last season, he stayed committed to improving his game, readying himself for the next opportunity.

Reflecting on his journey, Davis expressed eagerness to make up for lost time and contribute positively to UL Lafayette’s basketball program, focusing on his role as both a scorer and a leader on and off the court.
