Mikel Brown Jr., the point guard for Overtime Elite, stands out as one of the most highly sought-after prospects in the Class of 2025. Recently, Louisville extended an offer to the five-star recruit, adding to a growing list of scholarship opportunities. Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, the 6-foot-2 player showcased his skills with Team USA, contributing significantly to their victory in the FIBA U18 AmeriCup in Buenos Aires. Throughout the tournament, Brown averaged 10.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game, aiding the team in securing dominant wins across all six matches.

Louisville now joins a prestigious group of programs pursuing Brown, including Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Ole Miss, among others. On the adidas 3SSB circuit with Team Loaded, Brown has maintained impressive averages of 25.3 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.2 rebounds over 11 games.

Ranked 14th nationally by 247Sports, Brown’s reputation as a top prospect is underscored by his polished skills and versatility on the court, particularly noted for his ability to score effectively from three-point range both off the dribble and catch. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being ranked as the second-best point guard and the third-best prospect in Georgia by 247Sports.

According to Travis Branham, a recruiting analyst at 247Sports, Brown’s high standing in the rankings reflects his deep and refined skill set. The 247Sports Composite places him at 13th nationally, further solidifying his status as an elite player in his class.

Discussing his future plans with Branham earlier this year, Brown emphasized his preference for a playing style that emphasizes open space and team-oriented basketball. He values leadership as a point guard and seeks a program with unselfish players and coaches who are approachable and communicative.
