Linked-away star Edson Alvarez has dropped a big hint over his West Ham future in a social media post overnight.

It wasn’t just West Ham’s season as a football club that ended on a sour note, with only five wins in 25 games in the second half.

Edson Alvarez had established himself as one of West Ham’s most crucial players.

When he didn’t play, the Hammers didn’t win – it was that simple.

However, the Mexican found himself dropped from the side after being substituted at halftime during a 5-0 defeat at Chelsea.

West Ham had fended off competition from top clubs to sign Alvarez for £34m from Ajax.

The fan favorite admitted he nearly joined Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund before choosing West Ham.

Alvarez linked with move away after one season

Edson Alvarez has been with West Ham for merely 10 months, yet his future at the club has become a topic of speculation. In interviews outside of West Ham’s official media channels, Alvarez has hinted at the possibility of a move. In October, amid links to Bayern Munich, he mentioned being “always open” to a transfer, stating: “I want to play and show the people my best qualities. But in the summer, you never know what’s going on.”

Recent reports, including those from Caught Offside, indicate that West Ham is concerned Alvarez might seek an exit if the team fails to secure European qualification. Given that West Ham will not compete in Europe next season for the first time in four years, this concern has intensified among the club’s supporters.

Despite these uncertainties, Alvarez has provided a significant hint regarding his commitment to West Ham’s future. The situation continues to evolve, and the club’s strategy for retaining key players like Alvarez will be crucial as they navigate the upcoming season without the prospect of European competition.

Alvarez drops big hint over his West Ham future

The Mexican midfield maestro, Edson Alvarez, has taken to social media, seemingly indicating his intention to stay with West Ham for another season. Alvarez posted a video showcasing some of his best moments for both West Ham and Mexico last season, accompanied by the caption “hungry for more?” This message has given fans hope that he will continue with the club despite previous uncertainties about his future.

This is hardly the kind of post a player randomly puts out on social media in the off-season if they’re looking to leave.

Let’s hope new head coach Julen Lopetegui appreciates Alvarez more than David Moyes did by the end of his tenure.

It comes after Alvarez also appeared to commit his future to West Ham when speaking to the club’s official website back in April.

The Mexico star, nicknamed ‘lionheart’ at Ajax, suggested he will be here next season.

He said he has loved his “first season in England,” suggesting there will be a second.

Hammers must build team around Mexican maestro

“I’ve loved my first season in England, and I’ve learnt so much,” Alvarez said. “I think there’s a lot I can improve, so I’m looking forward to getting better and better, but for now I just want to help the team finish as high in the table as possible.”

West Ham struggled without Alvarez during the away leg of their tie against Bayer Leverkusen, losing 2-0 while he was suspended. However, Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso highlighted Alvarez as West Ham’s most crucial player after his impressive performance in the second leg nearly turned the tie around.

Alonso suggested that West Ham should build the team around Alvarez. Fans hope that new head coach Julen Lopetegui and sporting director Tim Steidten will heed this advice and make Alvarez a central figure in the team this summer.
