The Louisville Cardinals have landed a commitment from Georgia transfer Frank Anselem-Ibe

University of Louisville basketball coach Pat Kelsey has welcomed a new post player to his team.

Georgia transfer Frank Anselem-Ibe, who began his college career at Syracuse, played two seasons with Georgia before entering the transfer portal. He has now committed to Louisville, becoming the 13th member of the Cardinals’ roster.

In the 2023-24 season, Anselem-Ibe served as a reserve but still provided valuable minutes for the Bulldogs. He played in 29 games, starting three, and averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per game, shooting 62.8 percent from the field.

Due to injuries, Anselem-Ibe started the last three games of the season, averaging six points and seven rebounds.

During his first season with the Bulldogs in 2022-23, Anselem-Ibe appeared in 31 games with six starts, averaging 2.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and a team-high 0.9 blocks in 14.6 minutes per game. In the 2021-22 season at Syracuse, he played in 32 games with six starts, averaging 2.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 14.2 minutes per game, while shooting 62.5 percent from the field. He also grabbed 123 rebounds, the fourth-most on the team, and recorded double-digit rebounds in three games.

As a freshman at Syracuse in 2020-21, Anselem played a limited role, appearing in four games for a total of 26 minutes.

Originally from Lagos, Nigeria, Anselem began his high school career at Westlake High School in Atlanta, later transferring to Lincoln Academy.

He finished his high school career at Prolific Prep in Napa, California, helping the team reach the 2020 Grind Session World Championship, where he scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Our Savior Lutheran.

Anselem was ranked among the top 100 prospects in the class of 2021 before reclassifying to the class of 2020.
