The St. Louis Cardinals will release their City Connect jerseys on Monday, May 20th. Here’s a breakdown on what to expect.
In just a few days, the St. Louis Cardinals will unveil their City Connect jerseys. Joining the ranks of 25 other teams, the Cardinals’ Nike-designed jerseys will be revealed on Monday, May 20th.

The St. Louis Cardinals are set to debut their City Connect jerseys against the Chicago Cubs on May 25th, marking the culmination of an exciting launch week. On May 20th, fans can purchase merchandise from various outlets including the Cardinals Team Store, Cardinals Authentics Shop, and Cardinals.com. Adding to the anticipation, St. Louis native and music industry luminary Metro Boomin will grace the launch party Monday evening.

Speculation abounds regarding the design of the jerseys, with Nike’s recent penchant for colored pants adding to the intrigue. While reactions from fans have varied, there’s a hint of concern among St. Louis supporters that the jerseys might not meet expectations.

Hints dropped by figures like Bill DeWitt III suggest that red will feature prominently in the design, particularly after the team’s red Spring Training attire was shelved. Following Nike’s “four plus one” jersey strategy, where teams have four regular jerseys plus a City Connect variant, the Cardinals’ collection includes their white, road gray, alternate home cream, and delayed production of their alternate powder blue jerseys.

Considering Nike’s tendency to employ monochromatic schemes throughout uniforms, it’s conceivable that the Cardinals’ City Connect jerseys may follow suit. However, Bill DeWitt’s comment about an all-red ensemble resembling “pajamas” suggests that such a design might be unlikely.

Various design elements could be incorporated into the jerseys, drawing inspiration from the Cardinals’ use of the hashtag “The Lou” on social media platforms like Twitter. Symbols such as the Gateway Arch, St. Louis flag, and Fleur-de-lis might also find their way onto the jerseys.

Regardless of the specific design direction, it’s exciting to witness the Cardinals receiving a distinctive uniform this year.
