The Mets are becoming increasingly concerned about Brooks Raley’s shoulder inflammation, which placed him on the injured list on April 21. Initially, they hoped he’d return by May 5 against the Rays, but his recovery has stagnated. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza revealed that Raley, 35, is “not close” to being activated and will consult Dr. Meister on Tuesday for further evaluation. Until then, Raley has been instructed to halt baseball activities. Whether Raley will miss the entire season remains uncertain, pending Dr. Meister’s assessment. Despite his absence, Raley had a strong start to the season, pitching seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in eight appearances. The Mets had secured Raley with a $6.5 million option last November after his impressive performance in 2023, where he posted a 2.80 ERA in 66 games.
