Raheem Mostert topped the league in rushing touchdowns, while De’Von Achane boasted an impressive rookie season with an average of almost eight yards per carry. Nevertheless, Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins seem eager to bolster their running back roster. According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, Miami is one of five teams scheduled to meet with USC tailback Austin Jones before the upcoming draft. The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are also showing interest in the redshirt senior.

Jones initially started his college journey at Stanford but made the switch to USC before the 2022 season. Across his five-year stint, he accumulated 2,307 rushing yards and caught 92 passes for 798 yards, including a touchdown as a receiver.

During his last season with the Trojans, Jones played in 13 games, carrying the ball 85 times for 477 yards and securing seven touchdowns.

The Dolphins possess five picks on Day 3 of the draft, kicking off with selection No. 158 in the fifth round, followed by two sixth-round picks, and concluding with No. 241 in the seventh round.

Although Dane Brugler of The Athletic didn’t include Austin Jones in his recent seven-round mock draft, Jones possesses the quick burst essential for thriving in McDaniel’s offensive system and could merit consideration as a late-round prospect.
