A former scout for the Tennessee Titans, charged with first-degree murder, has come back to Nashville following his apprehension in Utah.
According to the Metro Nashville Police, Blaise Taylor, aged 27, was transported to Nashville from Logan, Utah, on Tuesday. Taylor had been residing in Utah while employed at Utah State University, a move he made after the passing of Jade Benning and her five-month-old unborn child, whom Taylor is accused of fathering.
Taylor, who was supposed to start working at Texas A&M alongside his father, Trooper Taylor, was indicted earlier this month and apprehended on March 13 by Deputy U.S. Marshals. He stands accused of poisoning Benning on February 25, 2023. Benning was taken to the hospital after Taylor dialed 911 at 9:38 p.m., reporting what seemed to be an allergic reaction and requesting paramedics. Unfortunately, Benning’s fetus passed away on February 27. Benning passed away on March 6, her 25th birthday, before authorities could interview her.
Following months of investigation spearheaded by Homicide Unit Detective Adam Reese and involving experts from crime labs and medical professionals from the Medical Examiner’s office, Taylor was indicted for allegedly poisoning Benning without her knowledge during his visit to her apartment on Lebanon Pike on the night of February 25.
Taylor is being held without bail until his arraignment hearing in Davidson County Criminal Court.
