Ahead of his imminent return, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, the formidable enforcer of the Sydney Roosters, has demonstrated his prowess with a brief appearance in the NSW Cup.

Waerea-Hargreaves’ comeback comes at an opportune moment for the Roosters, particularly with Spencer Leniu facing potential suspension following his appearance before the judiciary on Monday. Leniu’s misconduct during the fiery Round 1 clash in Las Vegas, where he directed derogatory remarks towards Brisbane’s Ezra Mam, could see him sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Offering his support to Leniu, ‘JWH’ praised him for taking accountability and issuing a public apology, emphasizing the team’s solidarity behind him.

While the absence of a three-time premiership-winning forward would be felt by most teams, the Roosters’ depth is evident as they welcome back Waerea-Hargreaves.

Elsewhere, Michael Jennings, Waerea-Hargreaves’ teammate, shared his ambitions for a return to the NRL at the age of 35. After a hiatus of 1253 days, Jennings made a notable comeback, playing the entire 80 minutes at left centre.

Despite enduring significant challenges during his absence, including a doping suspension and a legal dispute, Jennings remains resolute in his quest for an NRL return.

Recalling discussions with coach Trent Robinson regarding the unexpected opportunity to rejoin the Tri-colours, Jennings highlighted personal pride and familial motivation as driving forces.

Currently on a train-and-trial arrangement, Jennings maintains his innocence concerning past controversies and reaffirms his commitment. With nearly 300 NRL appearances to his credit, Jennings’ motivations now revolve more around inspiring his children and persevering, rather than monetary gains.
