Cameron Ciraldo, disappointed by numerous contentious decisions during Friday’s match against Cronulla, intends to contact NRL referees chief Jared Maxwell soon. Typically composed post-game, Ciraldo expressed disbelief at referee Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski’s calls, particularly a Canterbury no-try where Braydon Trindall was impeded from reaching Viliame Kikau. Despite the Bulldogs’ strong defensive performance, Ciraldo believes the outcome could have been different if certain decisions had favored them.
Ciraldo cited instances such as Blake Taaffe’s aerial tackle, which he believed warranted a penalty. Expressing frustration, he emphasized the need for clarity on such calls to ensure fairness. Ciraldo refrained from fully airing his grievances but hinted at dissatisfaction with the halftime score and its potential impact on the game’s dynamics.
Regarding Briton Nikora’s high tackle on Kikau and the disallowed try due to the referee’s interference, Ciraldo held back his opinions, though Bulldogs captain Stephen Crichton felt confident Kikau would have scored regardless. While Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon acknowledged the obstruction, he believed his team should have defended better. Despite the contentious decisions, Fitzgibbon commended his team’s resilience in securing another victory.
