West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has stated that defender Conor Townsend will miss their match against QPR.
The left-back for the Baggies has sustained a hamstring injury, meaning he’ll miss their upcoming match against Huddersfield Town. Townsend, aged 31, has participated in 36 games across various competitions this season, contributing three assists.
Manager Corberan provided an update on Townsend’s injury via the official club website, stating, “Unfortunately, Conor Townsend will be unavailable. He felt some tightness in the last game and has a minor hamstring injury, ruling him out for the next two matches. However, we have three players capable of covering the left-back position: Adam Reach, Erik Pieters, and Pipa.”
Carlos Corberan delivers a West Brom injury update for Conor Townsend.
Townsend’s injury deals a blow to West Brom, and his absence on the left side of defense will be felt. Nonetheless, as hinted by Corberan, they have alternative options such as Adam Reach, Erik Pieters, or Pipa who can step up.
Having been a consistent performer since his arrival in 2018, Townsend has been a valuable player for West Brom, with 203 appearances and four goals to his name.
His prowess with his left foot, especially during set-pieces, adds to the team’s threat, but Corberan will need to be creative in their upcoming matches against QPR and Huddersfield Town to maintain their promotion push.
These fixtures pose challenges as both opponents are battling relegation, making them crucial games for West Brom’s aspirations.
Additionally, there’s speculation about winger Tom Fellows potentially earning international recognition.
