Emil Krafth’s contract with Newcastle United is poised to be prolonged until 2025. Initially signing a fresh deal in 2022, which included a provision for an additional year, the Swedish player’s extension is anticipated by Magpies’ manager Eddie Howe. Reflecting on the potential extension, Howe stated it’s likely the clause will be activated. Krafth endured a significant period of sideline time due to an ACL injury suffered in August 2022 against Tranmere Rovers.
However, he made a comeback in November and participated in Carabao Cup matches against Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as a significant portion of a match against Fulham in December following Fabian Schar’s substitution. When questioned about his future, Krafth expressed that his primary focus has been on returning to the field, and he hasn’t dwelled much on what lies ahead. He emphasized the enjoyment he and his family have experienced in Newcastle and expressed openness to staying, though nothing definitive has been communicated by the club yet. Since his move to St James’ Park from Amiens in 2019 for £5 million, Krafth has amassed 72 appearances.
