According to sources cited by The Denver Post on Monday, Christian Parker, the defensive backs coach for the Denver Broncos, is anticipated to depart from Denver to join the defensive coaching staff of the Philadelphia Eagles. The news was initially reported by ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
Parker has been with the Broncos for the last three seasons, following a two-season stint as a defensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers.
In the previous month, the 32-year-old coach interviewed for defensive coordinator positions with the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots, but those roles were filled by other candidates.
The Philadelphia Eagles recently appointed Vic Fangio as their new defensive coordinator. Parker had previously worked under Fangio during Fangio’s tenure as the head coach of the Broncos in 2021, during which the team achieved a 7-10 record.
Prior to his NFL career, Parker served as a defensive analyst at Notre Dame and Texas A&M, and held positions as a defensive backs coach at Virginia State and Norfolk State.
Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has consistently praised Parker, referring to him as a “star” and a “great partner to work with” before the start of the 2023 season.
Joseph stated, “He’s sharp, man. He’s smart, he works his butt off, and his players love playing for him.”
During the most recent season, two of Parker’s defensive backs, cornerback Pat Surtain II (NFLPA, Pro Football Writers) and safety Justin Simmons (AP, second team), were honored with All-Pro distinctions.
